Art du jour
OK, This guy has some of the neatest photography I have seen in a long time. Really stunning art in the truest sense of that word, combining visual beauty and shock with very thoughtful composition and social criticism. Chris Jordan is his name, and his speciality is the photography of ordinary objects in extreme levels of scale. For example, one cell phone is just a tool. hundreds of thousands of cellphones is art. But the most amazing combination of photography, composition and commentary is his new series, entitled Running the Numbers, which takes ordinary objects such as grocery bags and pills and shows them in mass quantities to demonstrate various points about the statistical makeup of American society.
Check it out.
