Luckily, scientific truth doesn't depend on opinion polls
If it did, we would be in big trouble.
Lots of people have commented on this poll, but allthough it is depressing, it doesn't really matter too much. Evolution is a scientific fact. It was a fact before Darwin was even born, and it will remain a fact even if not a single American "believes" in it. The only thing that will cause evolution to be pushed aside is if a better explaination for the development of life on Earth is proven via the scientific method.
The scientific method is how truth gets discovered on our planet. Religious truth is something entirely different from scientific truth; the Earth kept moving for Galileo even though the Pope commanded it not to be so. And so it goes.
