Book 'em

J. D. has tagged me with the book meme. I will do my best, but this one is basically improssible since I read so much, and there are so many excellent books to choose from.

1. Book that changed my life.

I don't think I can point to any one particular book, but theory-wise, probably the most influential genre of books I have read are those by a group of biologists and evolutionary psychologists such as Steve Pinker, Paul Ehrlich, and Richard Dawkins. So although I don't have a book that "changed my life" the way a religious person might cite the Bible or the Book of Mormon, I would say my readings in the subjects mentioned above have certainly influenced how I look at the world and life on Earth more then anything else.

2. Book I have read more than once.

I don't generally re-read books, although I'll often go back and skim a chapter again or reference something.

3. Book I would want on a desert island.

Any of these.

4. Book that made me laugh.

Any book by this guy.

5. Book that made me cry.

This book has the potential to.

6. Book I wish I had written.

The Bible. Man, can you imagine the royalties I'd be due?

7. Book I wish had never been written.

Tough call. Mein Kampf has probably been responsible for more deaths then any other book in thehistory of humanity. On the other hand, what about The Protocols of the Elders of Zion? Or Malleus Maleficarum? Or even the Bible and Koran, which have both granted comfort and peace to millions, but also led millions to kill and die in the name of their God? We also can't forget the butcher bill due Communism, inspired by Marx's seminal writings.

8. Book I am currently reading.

This one. And this one too.

9. Book I’ve been meaning to read.

My Amazon wish list is a succinct guide to what's on my radar. By the way, did you know my birthday is in three weeks? Just random trivia, ya know!
