100 years ago today...

The great San Francisco earthquake hit, the worst urban disaster in US history up until last September. The San Francisco Chronicle has a great series on the many aspects of the earthquake, including a chilling story about what would happens if the exact same magnitude quake hit that region today. Other then my own hometown and the place I grew up, San Francisco is probably the city in the US that I know best (I spend two weeks a year there as part of my job) and it is scary know what might happen there next week...or maybe not for another hundred years or more.
