Throwing good money after bad
Conservative Kansas senator Pat Roberts is excited because he snuck in a small piece of pork into a recent highway bill to fund a controversial freeway extension in Lawrence.
Roberts' rationale is rather amusing:
Roberts said the trafficway was a critical piece of the efforts to build a life sciences corridor between Manhattan’s Kansas State University and the Kansas City area.
What life science company or venture capital fund would support expanding or relocating high-tech scientific reasearch in a state where science has been redefined to include supernatural events, and "intelligent design" is being taught as biology?
The finest highway in the world won't matter in a state where scientific illiteracy is now official educational policy.
