After reading many reports of how easy the iPod Nano's screen is to scratch, I visited the local Apple store today to see firsthand.

Every unit on display looked like someone had taken sandpaper to the screen. You could still read the information on the screen, but the scratching was noticeable and ugly. Strangely enough, the rest of the unit's surface was relatively unscratched. And these are all in-store units, that would be handled by many people, but not put in pockets or anything like that.

I wonder if Apple did any QA at all on the materials, but they had better improve their construction quickly or what is by all other reckoning one of the most beautiful and functional music players ever created will instead be remembered for this ugly defect.
