Government: good, bad, and evil

Good: Kansas law banning "Big Mac suits" goes into effect. In other words, you can't sue your favorite fast food joint because "they made you fat." Restaurants can still be sued if they intentionally mislead people, but if you eat at McDonalds every day, you will gain weight, and it is not their fault.

Bad: Hillary Clinton demands video game investigation. Polishing her image for the 2008 election, Clinton is demanding the government investigate "smut" in a popular video game. This is political grandstanding, and frankly it really is not the government's business to regulate video games or raise your kids. Is there any person in the world who thought GTA was a peaceful children's game?

Evil: Kansas legislator questings adoption by gay people. Speaking of "the government raising your kids" ... A true example of the potential for the government's power to be used for evil. Adoption decisions should be made on the impartial basis of what is best for the child, and here we have a threat of the government using its police power to break up families and rip children out of loving homes in order to satify the ideological imperatives of its most intolerant citizens.
